BC>Yo! Hayes:
BC> HS> you might want to grab the following file from the MODEM directory on
BC> HS> our FTP site:
BC> HS> HAYMDMDB.EXE 19K 10/16/96 This is a Compuserve modem database
BC> HS> file
BC>Thank you - you are a gentleman and a scholar.
Hey great, hope that file helps out!
BC>While I have you on line, you recently guided me to a firmware upgrade to
the
BC>Optima 288 v.34/v.FC+Fax modems that I have.......and while this firmware
did
BC>help the problems I ran by you at the time, it seems to have added some
ew
BC>ones. Every once in a while now, I have to turn the modems off and back
BC>on.....kind of like a hardware reset, in order to restore proper
performance.
BC>Is this a known issue, and is there an even more recent firmware upgrade?
No, that would not be any kind of known issue, I have been using the
latest firmware in the OPTIMA 288 on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis on my
own BBS without anything like that showing up. What you might want to
try is to use &D3 in the modem init string (instead of &D2). &D3 will
instruct the modem to do its own 'hard reset' on every DTR on to off
transition. What exactly is happening? You said that you have to cycle
the modem off and on to restore performance, but I'm a little fuzzy on
exactly what is happening to let you know there is a problem?
