Hi. I'm a Sydney Education student who has done a lot of research in regard
to the single sex topic you are talking about. Here in Australia there are
some public single sex schools. They are therefore funded primarily by the
government. Yes they are legal and people do have the right to attend them
if they please. Often the decision to attend a single sex schoolis in the
hands of the parents of the students rather than the students themselves.
Truly I do not feel that they are beneficial anyway. Life is and should not
be divided according to sex. Therefore why should we teach students in such
artificialenvironments. Once they enter the workforce it is then time for
them to go and learn how to communicate with the opposite sex. Isn't school
supposed to prepare students for their lives that are to follow? Do single
sex schools really do this. Again, single sex schools for girls often do not
provide the students with the opportunity to do traditionally male dominated
subjects such as physics and chemistry. Anyway let me know how ypu feel.
Frances.
