I've encountered a puzzling problem on my novell 4.11 ethernet network.
I can log in and get files services fine, but when trying to configure
intel netport express print servers with the management software
supplied, the software cannot communicate with the print servers. I am
running 802.3 frame type. A related phenomonem, when running rconsole
the server is not found. the network  consists of two parts joined by
3com smart stack hubs and a fiper optic cable. The rconsole works fine
on one side of the link, but not on the other. Likewise the
printserveres are found on that side and not the other. access to files
is not affected. Do these programs(rconsole and netport manager) use
some communications function that is not needed for file service? I hope
someone out there has encountered this. I spent a couple hours with
Intel support and havent resolved it. BTW the print servers work even
though they're not found by the intel software.
