> (For the uninitiated, Dieter expressed no remorse for using > "//" comments in a standard C program, compiled using the > Borland compiler.) .. a habit which I find particularly annoying. Borland should either not allow it, or generate a warning for them by default (like everyone else). Single line comments are an aberration and should NOT be used in standard C source code. What I find particularly annoying is when a library author - even someone as large as IBM - publish and sell a library intended for use by C compilers with single line comments (grumble). This is specifically in reference to their TCPIP programmer's toolkit, btw. I *hate* having to fix system headers just to make compiler warnings go away, particularly when you have ever intention of releasing source to others. This doesn't include the other glaring omissions where _Far16 and _Seg16 modifiers are not present in prototypes which cause an otherwise valid program to trap! david --- SD®¯Šì+* Origin: Unique Computing Pty Ltd (3:632/348) SEEN-BY: 50/99 54/54 620/243 623/625 630 632/103 301 348 365 386 998 633/371 SEEN-BY: 634/384 635/210 502 503 541 544 636/100 670/206 711/409 430 807 808 SEEN-BY: 711/809 932 934 712/623 713/888 714/906 800/1 @PATH: 632/348 635/503 50/99 54/54 711/808 809 934 |
