No need to run it emulated there is a utility called "nomarch" which will 
un-arc, arc packets, but will not create them.

Pointed this out, because it came to light with MBSE BBS for Linux/FreeBSD, 
and nomarch is a usable utility, buy it does not help you if you need to 
create *.arc files for a downlink.
