Hello Matt, MM>I am supporting Gary Johnson this year. Here are some of MM>his recent videos for his campaign. Due to the Electoral College, MM>you can MM>safely vote for Gary Johnson in many states and not worry MM>about the dreaded spoiler effect in states such as Utah, Kansas, MM>California, New York, Hawaii and countless others. If more folks thought the same way as you, the two-party system (monopoly) would come crashing down. The Framers of the Constitution did not envision a two-party system. In fact, no mention of political party or parties is mentioned in the U.S. Constitution. What we had for the first few decades was a multi-party system, the two-party system not coming into being until after the Civil War (Abraham Lincoln was a minority president, winning as a Republican his first term and as a Unionist his second term). Since then, every president has been either a Democrat or a Republican, without exception. What Democrats and Republicans have done is subvert any potential third party by adopting positions taken by candidates of those parties. For example, many of the ideas of Norman Thomas were incorporated into the Democratic Party. Ditto with many of the ideas of George Wallace having been incoporated by the Republican Party. Voting for candidates who are not a Democrat or a Republican is viewed by many as being a wasted vote. However, Jesse Ventura and Minnesotans would tell you otherwise... MM>If any state has a lead greater than 15 percent you can MM>safely vote for Gary Johnson. Voting for Romney in MM>California does NOTHING, Obama is still going to get MM>elected in my state. Only if Obama receives a plurality of votes in California. IOW, each candidate has to work for his/her own votes. MM>There are countless policy issues that appeal to Obama and Romney MM>voters with Gary and feel free to be Libertarian for this election MM>and perhaps 2016. If you do not like what Gary Johnson delivers you MM>can always go back to the failed two party duopoly. The success of the two-party system is the result of the two major parties working in collusion with each other to keep it that way. If you believe in the principles of the Libertarian Party, then register as a Libertarian and participate in the political process as a Libertarian. Voting is only a small part of the political process. A very small part. MM>His videos can be found at: MM>http://www.youtube.com/user/govgaryjohnson?feature=watch Why limit oneself to only one resource? Certainly there is more to a political campaign than youtube videos... --Lee * SLMR 2.1a * BE A SAINT + --- Maximus 3.01* Origin: Xaragmata / Adelaide SA telnet://xaragmata.mooo.com (3:800/432) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 101 313 620 848 953 @PATH: 800/432 633/260 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
