Russ,
I've done a lot of polishing on a sawed off piece of shelf covered with
newspaper on my lap sitting on my sofa. I keep a bucket next to my feet
and a towel next to the bucket. Works pretty well and the wife doesn't
mind since it is quiet and not very messy.
My normal figuring place is a 2 foot wide part of one table. I move there
because I use rouge and I'm not going to risk the stain. Even so, when I
add a bar of soap next to the bucket, it is easy to keep rouge in control.
It only gets on the lap, the mirror, the newspaper, and the bucket.
If you need evidence for the wife, I can send a photo of me doing 12 micron
using the same setup.
