 DS> Do an explicit experiment.  Compose a reply to me, subject of dupe

        I did.

 DS> Then open up the REP packet and look at the message (date/time
 DS> will look wrong, 1 Jan 1970 or some such -- but nevermind).

        It was.

 DS> Close the REP packet and attempt to upload the message again.

        Doc's rejected it as a dupe.

 DS> Then for one more test, open the REP package and
 DS> edit the message -- then attempt to upload.

        The attempt was accepted after doing an edit to the same
        message.

 DS> Let me know after the three uploads what happened.  I'm curious.

        Is your curiousity staved ? We should ask Ed K. what is
  accepted as a new message or an old one ?  What are your conclusions ?
