Okay then... imagine this.  You are a programmer.  You spend countless months 
working on a program, getting it as close to perfect as you can.  In order to 
write this program, you are unable to have any other jobs.
At the end of it all you release.  You would expect people to pay for your 
hard work, so you can eat, get your kids an education and write your next 
program.
How would you feel if a whole lot of people started pirating your program, 
stealing it instead of paying you the money you deserve?
