NetWare 4.11 + NWSP7
ZENWORKS 1.1 Starter Kit
Clean new Windows 95B (English) installation
Novell client 3.1 SP1
Office 97 standard (English) installed through ZENWORKS
I have created 2 Win95/98 User Packages:
1. Limited
- User system policies with restrictions enabled on most items (shell,
system, ...)
- Associated to a "limited user" group
2. Not limited at all (for admin purposes)
- User system policies with ALL restrictions disabled
- Associated to a "Admin" group

Problem description:
Certain Word documents when opened on a PC with a user logged-in as
"limited", will have all its characters displayed as square boxes instead of
the
proper fonts (Arial, Times, New Roman, ...). In most cases the PC would
hang or Word would crash !
If not crashed, most fonts in the application Menus, in other documents, ...
will
be displayed in a corrupted way (square boxes ...!).
Then trying to login as a "Not limited" user and then opening the documents
gives also the same problems.
It seems that as soon the PC has had its registry modified by a "limited"
user profile with ZENWORKS, it will always give this font corruption
problem.
And there is no way back than to re-install the PC from scratch !
Opening that document on a PC which has had its registry never touched by
ZENWORKS will display without any problems.
The funny thing is that it does not occur with all documents. New
documents can be created and worked on without any problem until it goes
funny ! After that, the only chance to recuperate the document is to go on
a PC not touched by ZENWORKS !
Later tests have shown that on such a polluted PC the registry is changed
as soon as you open one of this documents with Winword:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\...
the fonts which are corrupted has been moved from "fonts" to "fonts
holder\bad fonts"
If you delete this corrupted fonts in "bad fonts" and open the document
again some
of these fonts are now repaired bat not all, the other have been moved back
to
"bad fonts" !

Who can help me to get-out of this mess as many of our network PCs now
are having this problem.

Thanks in advance for all tips, ideas or solutions!!!

Bruno
