Don and the crew,

   It does  indeed have the numbered skirts.  I have heard
that the MN-4C is an MN-7 in a different case.   

The knobs that failed were the small ones on the capacitor
range settings (located below the big  knobs) and on the
SWR CAL momentary switch knob.  

It is almost like they are Bakelite....Weird.
