LJ> Does anyone here have any experience with the Tascam PB-32 patch bay?
GN> No but if over 30 years experience with Professional Audio will do....
Much obliged.
GN> Precisely correct. It is the function of a "normalled" jack to allow
GN> a specific pre-determined routing for the connections, except when a
GN> plug is inserted into either of the normalled pair of jacks.
Amazing. I got something right! ;-)
GN> multiple. "Project" studio jack fields are designed for limited

I don't know which category the Tascam falls into here. Guess they do
both, and I wound up with the el cheapo.
LJ> We have purchased a dbx PB-48 as an additional bay. It was a new

GN> They must have separate switches to allow selectable defeating the
GN> "normals" on each jack pair.
It's a rather neat setup, really - the bays are normalled by default. They
are set up on individual circuit boards, with each attached to the frame by
a plastic nut. To defeat the normalling, you simply unscrew the nut, slide
out the card, flip it 180 degrees, and reinstall it. Quite nice.
GN> It sounds like the DBX jackfield is the more flexible and thus should
GN> be the one to use with the selectable "normals".
That's the plan - I just wish I could leave the dbx fully normalled and
defeat the normalling on the Tascam. Sigh. Anyway, thanks for the help!
GN> ... If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why
Good advice - I may actually do this. ;-)
