Charles, I believe that it would be good to reform our tax system.  We
are not in disagreement here.  I will do what is in my power to create
reforms, including calling and writing my congressmen, writing letters
to newspapers, etc.  However, there are taxes you oppose that I support.
I am fine with taxes on ciarettes, since the use of cigarettes end up
costing our society money to care for the children of those who are
disabled or die as a result of cigarette use, and to care for those who
use cigarettes and become ill as a result.  The smokers might as well
pay for what they are going to cost us.
And the fact that you and I disagree is central to the problem we are
having.  If you and I disagree, there has to be a system to create order
out of the multitude of opinions out there.  What governmental system
can you create so that there is order in the area of taxation, and other
laws, and yet each of the two hundred million differing views on
taxation and other laws in this country are given at least some sort of
fair hearing. How would that system deal with the inevitable disgruntled
people whose views would end up not being the accepted law of the land?
