I used to do repairs on these things...
What you might want to consider is using a UPS ahead of the unit's line.
If you've got such a device already and haven't yet used up all of it's
(protected) outlets, it's an easy task of just "plugging in". VIOLA ! No
more lost outgoing messages ! (APC has several units that really are not
expensive to own. Worth looking into, I would suggest...)

True...TOO true !
ALWAYS change any factory-installed codes or be prepared for the worst.
Wireless phones (but _not_ cellulars), IMHO, are the worst "offenders",
followed by answering machines like yours...
