I just watched that movie again.  And by god I missed that as well!
I did notice the jackal being tossed up against the wall from a mere half 
dozen 9mm rounds when Le what's-his-name shot him...
And the flight time of the bullet when he fired at DeGualle seemed a bit 
long.
