Hey Shawn!
SH> What's my excuse then? I feel old as hell but I'm not.
I know young people that feel the weight of the world and thus are old before
their time. I am not sure this is a sign of the times type dealie though since
I seem to recall the same dealie back when I was sporting a younger number.
SH> just with these discussions I've gotten a way to view UTF8
SH> charactors, dos ansi viewers, and everything else working on my
SH> old dosbox setup.
That puts you way ahead of the Windows crowd from my understanding of the
situation. I was just reading a bunch of posts about the console on Windows
boxes and it's lameness when it comes to this very issue. I for one am more
than happy to share what I have learned over the years to make this a reality
for all fidonet users.
Speaking of helpful discussions;
SH> Now it's time to work on my Golded linux setup and see if I can't
SH> get that working correctly.
It will fail when you try to create or reply and quote utf8 messages. Same
with msged while we're at it. This is *exactly* why Nicholas Boel and I
started discussing things like vim and/or nano backends for golded and/or msged
to compensate for their obvious abandonware handicaps.
Life is good,
Maurice
