use it or lose it ;)
FPC is very much like TP/BP but there's other editor environments that offer
more capabilities and additional libraries... there's Lazarus if one wants a
Delphi similar RAD environment... i use it a lot but (still) don't do any GUI
coding... then there's MSEide with its MSEgui which has its own set of
libraries... there's also Code Typhon which is a fork of Lazarus and supposedly
does more for cross-platform stuffs but also includes a lot more libraries and
plugins that one would have to hunt down and install... comparing lazarus and
code typhon is like comparing debian and ubuntu...
anyway, one can do almost anything that one wants to do... even porting code
like the delphi based argus/radius/taurus FTN mailers to FPC/Lazarus and then
working on them to remove the winwhatever centricities and make them
crossplatform GUI FTN mailers...
i'm aware of at least one BBS that's written in FPC and at least two others
that are being ported over ;)
