I using kernel 2.6.17 and how gentoo look after this is by either use a
protage dl command by "emerge multilibs" og put it into the USE
flag for compiling system.

MK>I have the hpt 1.4-rc4 and smapi 2.4-rc4 here. Built them using
 MK>CC="gcc -m32" and the 32-bit libs are in /lib. I have the
64-bit ones

Then step up on to Rc5 it is buggy self if it should be stable, the buggy
thing is it not like using -b msg for netmail and badarea, I step back to
rc4 again.
Rc5 will not read and use msg for netamil and badreas and give this msgapierr -3.

GKA>> And it is still getting segmention fault and some msgapierr -3 ...

MK>It sounds to me that they simply aren't 64-bit capable. What version
 MK>of gcc?

what my command og emerge --info gives is :
gcc 1.3.13-r2
libtool 1.5.22
cbuild x86_64-pc-linux-gnu

  Take care,
     Gert
