PT> MS> Then is it true that the kids were told to remove their
PT> clothes
PT> MS> and the external genitalia were then examined?
PT> MS> If so, do you consider even that an appropriate thing...?
PT>
PT> Of course it's appropriate! How do you expect to check for hernias
PT> and developmental delays?
If these kids were not given the option of not being examined,
particularly by these particular doctors instead of their family physicians,
you don't even have "informed consent". The newspaper described the
"permission slip" sent to parents as meaning that any parent who did not
object in writing was implicitly granting permission, though the "permission
slip" did not mention what the exam was to entail..."permission slips" for
school field trips are more detailed and the parent must sign them for
permission to be assumed to have been given!
PT> Sheesh! The touchiness of American society at large is really
PT> getting excessive.
Have you ever heard of the _schools_ teaching kids not to let any adult
touch their genitals, other than _their_ doctor?
The schools themselves have taught that "touchiness". And parents have a
_right_ to choose which doctor will examine their kids!
This whole incident is a giant boost to those pushing for vouchers,
homeschooling, and private schools.
