The Southern California filk music festival returns to Van Nuys!
What, for the uninitiated, is 'filk music'?
Think of it as folk music with songs about science fiction, fantasy, and
high technology. It's music like you've heard before, with lyrics like you
probably haven't!
This year we welcome some very special guests to our 3-day festival:
From Canada, singer and street performer GRAHAM LEATHERS.
From California, singer/songwriter/storyteller/o-what-a-fiddler HEATHER
ALEXANDER.
From Arizona, our toastmaster, well-known singer/songwriter LARRY WARNER.
And our special guests from Eastern Canada, LLOYD LANDA and KAREN LINSLEY.
(Plus many other well-known and not-yet-known singers and players!)
The 3-day event will feature numerous concert performances, guided singing
circles, workshops, and specialty items (like the infamous Totally Tasteless
and Tacky Review!) Also look for a special Children's Activity Room, and
a Dealer's Room full of tapes and CD's for sale.
Admission to the full 3-day festival is $35.00 at the door. Special one-day
admission prices will be available at the door, as well as a lower price for
attending the Saturday night Guest-of-Honor Concert only.
Con-Chord 12 is taking place at the Airtel Plaze Hotel, 7277 Valjean Avenue,
in Van Nuys, California (Los Angeles County). Rooms are available for $81.00
