From my extremely limited knowledge of the subject, it seems to me that FPC is
the winner.  VP would be second but given it's 2004 abandonware status, which
seems to coincide with the disappearance of OS/2 BBSs, I would be hesitant to
use it to compile anything current with it.  BP?  No thank you as I have never
been a fan of Borland.  Are they still in business?

That's the usual excuse.  Also in this case the above which is why I prefer the
bash based Fidonet thingy I've been doing as it never requires (re)compilation.
 However it is starting to look far too much like code and less and less like a
script so it might have to be rendered to a compiler soon, gcc in the situation
here, but I have doubts I really want to do that.  My excuse is I am getting
too old for this.
