I've mentioned before, but didn't get a reply, about those portable battery
car boosters. The one I've used is called "Jump'N'Carry" and I think cost
$129. It weighs several pounds but has a carrying handle, so it's pretty
easy to move from one place to another. Sounds like you won't be moving it
around much, anyway. :-)
Anyway, it holds a charge for months, recharges overnight just by plugging in
an extension cord, and holds enough juice to boost about a dozen cars. I
don't know how many amp-hours that translates to, but most radios I know of
take less juice than cranking a car. (Expect, maybe, my brother's...)
Pushing a button tells you how much of a charge you have. Oh, it even has a
cigarette-lighter-type thing for plugging in "accessories".
I've considered buying one myself because a) power goes out over here
sometimes, too, and b) I sometimes leave my headlights on. :-)
