I have two questions for you that will help you solve your problem.
1. Are you using the external version of the modem?
2. What kind of computer are you suing?
If you are using an external modem with a 486 or earlier computer, you
probably have a 16450 or older UART in your serial ports. You need to
replace your serial ports. If your ports are built onto the motherboard,
you can disable them. Hope this helps.
