Hey Benny!

Depends on what packages we're talking about. For the Husky stuff it seems
to have worked. However I think it would be better to liberate Fido from
DOS-think formats and save a bunch of grief, even on 32-bit systems or
builds. I think we're starting to see why marrying formats to 16-bit
wasn't such a good idea in the first place. This wouldn't have been an
issue if ftn standards weren't so married to DOS-think even on DOS systems
... if they even exist anymore. If all the headers were string and/or
character orientated then we wouldn't have had to be discussing 64-bit
portability at all.

I've been doing that even on 32-bit linux so it sort of worked out.

 BP> why not run a DOSBOX anyway ? :-)

Mainly because I don't have one, nor do I want one. All my boxes are LINUXBOX. :-)

I doubt it. He never calls, he never writes, etc.

Sure. His too.

Life is good,
Maurice
