JB> Where all the hope and confidence in the child that was

All hope and confidence in any president was severly damaged by
the frat boy who just left the whitehouse.

Read Paul Krugman, and other economists. Or read the Journal of
Economic Statistics, Aug 1938. snipurl.com/fdr1938
It was cutting government spending that led to the downturn of
1937, not increased government spending. Before 1937 the
increased government spending led to an improved economy, with
unemployment cut from 25% to 15%, industrial production rising,
chain store sales rising, until the cuts in the New Deal
spending in 1936, which led to the downturn of 1937.
You have, in the past, talked about the FED squeezing liquidity
as a cause of the depression. That happened in 1936. Just as it
happened in the runup to the 2007 downturn.

Acutually following the example of the Bush administration, and

Every president learns on the job, every single one. The markets
you are talking about, the stock markets, have jumped at reports
of increasing unemployment, and dropped at reports of declining
unemployment. That isn't right for anyone but the market. People
really don't live thanks to the stock market, more the supermarket.
