Sorry, alright, you hit a nerve .. my international reputation

DD> Weren't you speaking recently of the abysmal phone lines in
DD> your neck of the woods?

Yeah, those miles out, up valleys, over creeks, up hills, down cliffs,
y'know? .. but half a k from new exchange/s plugged into the inland coastal
fibre link via Lismore and Murwillumbah, well hey, the lines have been
great over a year.

Grafton getting extra wet has been known to make Sydney links take a drop
for a day or two .. only once to Brisbane that I recall. Lots of
waterproofness testing of fairly new gear underway up and down the coast as
we type, eh?

Some people are now doing fine even from 8 to 12km out; I hear regular
26400 or better to local ISPs, where a year earlier a good 14k4 connect was
a rare and managed treat, from anywhere out there and sometimes just
downtown .. and the 30km from Lismore to here was the world's worst line,
fair dink :)

Ian
