Alex,
I think there are xmodem and mex overlays (or sources thereof) in the source
tarball I sent you. If not, give me a yell privately and I'll try to find them.
There were definite speed limitations when using the host computer's serial
interface, so don't expect it work fast than 9600 baud. That was the problem
that Ray Klein's SIO piggyback was intended to address. It plugged onto the
same headers as the banked memory expansion cards and provided a Z80 SIO and
DB-25 connector.
With the CardZ180, we brought out the two serial ports on the CPU and had the
148* line drivers on the card.
If all else fails, I can put the files on an Apple disk image for you.
