Hi Elvis:
=> -> The operating manual states "Oil consumption per engine in excess
=> -> of 3 Imperial gallons per hour requires investigating and reporting."
=> -> Indeed!
=>
=> Hee hee! I was just talking to Jim about the oil consumption on an
=> Argus in our engine echo. A guy there used 11 quarts from Boston to
Engine echo? Which one are you referring to?
=> Florida! What was that tale you used to tell about topping off the
=> oil and a squirt of gas?
Well, "Check the gas, and fill up the oil" used to be a
standing joke around Big Round engines for many years, as you know. The
other standby was "If she's not leaking oil, there's now oil left in it
to leak."
Perhaps. By then, the screaming sewer pipes had come into
being, and the switch was made to kerosene burners.
I had the distinct pleasure of a ride in the MATS Connie at the
Dayton Airshow, Elvis. It had been MANY years since I had heard 4 big
Rounds in METO power.
It was all the better hearing it from inside with the windows
open!! :-)
