Hmmmm....  Right answer to the question I thought I wasn't asking.... 

I've now found the LH / LHA / LHArc program compiled for Unix.  And it
looks like it's a newer version number than what you made reference to.....

I was looking through compress.cfg and trying to get all the options
installed.  I don't think I found them all....  And I found an option for
Linux that's not configured for Linux / Unix in the current
compress.cfg....  (Zoo? or one of the others)....
