We've been thru this once before, PC vs Mac. The PC had a whole group of
companies supporting and making them, the Mac was a single source solution.

However, and this is an important difference, the PC was still something
you had to pay for, so that group making PC's could make a living at it.
Money has a way of providing motivation, the more the market grows the more
money the more motivation. With people who donate their time the bigger the
market the more work the more complaints, the less they like it.
