Hey Shawn!

SH> in the process change something that makes my laptop un bootable.

Same with servers and PC's with oddball hardware, although in these cases
unbootable is usually on the first boot after installation if in fact one gets
by the installation successfully.

 SH> I have a 7" touchscreen USB

Is that one of the newer usb3 jobbers? I have yet to run across one of them in
the real world but would be interested in a USB one without touchscreen. From
what I've researched the non-touchscreens have better graphics but am unsure if
that is true with the USB ones. The one I have has VGA, HDMI and a single RCA
(composite?) input. No touchscreen. I have only tried the VGA and HDMI inputs
- seperately of course. Looks awsome at 1280 x 768 32bpp on such a small
screen.

SH> I only use it for displaying logs for a few things so I can see
SH> what's going on in real time. ;)

I was thinking about using LCD character devices for things like that. Much
cheaper although not as much information can be displayed at a given moment. I
see a 20 character by 4 line one for $15 Canadian at a local robot shop. Not
sure about utf8 compatibility though. I have my doubts.

Life is good,
Maurice

... Don't cry for me I have vi.
