Once apon a time Phillip Summers said, 'Re: Dynalink 33.6 init' to Simon Byrnand...

Well mine is a Dynalink 1433VQH-X AUS (internal) but I dont think that is

enough to be able to distinguish a buggy version from the good one. (I have

not come across the buggy version to know for sure) From what Bill has said,

the buggy version has a SOLDERED rom chip, while the OK version has a

SOCKETED rom chip. (Mine has a socketed rom chip)

The only way you can tell for sure is to actually test the modem, and type

ATI7 to get the following results:

ati7

Configuration Profile...

Product type US/Canada Internal

Options V32bis,V.FC,V.34+

Fax Options Class 1/Class 2.0

Clock Freq 92.0Mhz

Eprom 256k

Ram 64k

EPROM date 8/13/96

DSP date 8/13/96

EPROM rev 2.51

DSP rev 2.51

OK

If you get an EPROM and DSP revision of 2.5 (Bill's) or 2.51 (mine) or later,

then it is OK. Treat anything earlier than 2.5 as probably suspect.

Thats the best I can do, and remember that my modem was bought in NZ, so the

model numbering may be different to AUS, but the ATI7 results are valid.

Regards,

Simon

... God is alive, she just doesn't want to get involved.
