Hey Alexey!

I am not sure it is quite that bad but I agree that it is indeed bad or at
least bad for me as a hardcore user. Speaking for myself, I prefer systems
that seem to follow the original Unix philosophy especially considering the
marriage of C and the shell. That is what initially attracted me when learning
Solaris way back when. Also that was my first exposure to a GUI (X Windows)
which at that time I was totally enamoured with. However once the initial
infatuation wore off I found myself hacking a 386 with a crappy 16-bit C
compiler trying to make it behave more like csh. Switching to a 32-bit
compiler on a 496 later on made all the difference but by that time I was
already making the switch to Linux.

I wouldn't know but it doesn't surprise me to hear that. Myself I have come
very close to shutting everything down rather than surrender to that void but
so far have been able to find a new distraction to keep up my interest.
This utf8 fidonet-ish thingy is a good example. As long as I totally ignore
any FTSC documentation regarding utf8 - or any character set for that matter -
then things are absolutely fantastic. ;-)
Life is good,
Maurice
... Don't cry for me I have vi.
