Even during the run of the older Hemi, the wedges could beat it with a 25
cubic inch higher displacement and get better fuel economy as well (not
by much, but 12mpg is better than 10mpg). Which is why the hemi died the
death that it did. The first gas shortage was only a year away and yet
the 455 GM, 460 Ford and the Chrysler 440 stuck around for about 10
years after the hemi was long gone...Of those, the only one still with us
is the 454 Chevy, which has grown to 502...
