Fellow Federationists and Friends,
My my, this echoe is very active today. It's good to see so many new
folks as well as those who were once on here but were out of action for a
while with us again. Ain't it great.
Concerning our resolutions I believe that this resolution was in order as
leeniancy with one organization could start an avalanch of organizations
vendors, etc going off and having their activities outside of the
convention hotel causing inconveenience for convention attendeees, and
undermining the Federation's activities and mission. With passige of this
resolution we sent a strong message to any who wants to conduct their
business with blind persons and use our hotel facilities to do it in a
mannor that dosn't savierely disrupt the activities of The National
Federation of the Blind.
I find it interesting that a guide dog school and it's graduates would
even think of treating blind people in such a dissrespectfull mannor. I
don't hear those who exhibit technology and wrent room space for their
seminars which also last for only a few hours just as the Seeing Eye
breakfast did complaining, wining, and carryying on all because we charged
them a fee for using hotel space during our conventions.
Perhaps we should take the same posture concerning this resolution as
Kathy suggested about the October braille Monitor for 1995. We must stop
this kind of carrying on and get on with the business of improving the
quallity of life for the blind.
Take care and have a good week.
