  The best thing to do is to discharge the battery to were the phone
shuts off then do a complete charge. If you only use half the charge and
then recharge for the normal time, Half the time will be spent
overcharging and that's were the batteries capacity suffers.
Best bet is to buy a spare and charg it up then swap them when there
discharged.
