If corporate people were also wondering, then perhaps there will be
others passing comments up the line.  I suspect that you weren't the
only one being caught in the sloppiness...  :/

Probably should send that email, if you haven't already... it certainly
couldn't hurt, especially since you've already quit...  Maybe they'll
offer you a job at their other location locally...

Just have to stand firm and keep him on track to do it himself except

That's a good deal all around...  :)  They'll be less likely to do it
for him, more likely to talk him through things so he really does learn
from doing his homework...  and yes, having it out of the way frees him
to do his own thing when he gets home...  :)

I'd go for having it mailed out, too, considering...  I'm glad you got
some compensation for the time and energy expended...  :)

He'll probably have figured out that one can't do everything all at
once... and if he's aware that you've got the kid, there's a mitigating
factor right there...  :)
