I don't think I'd get any grief from my wife if I put up a cherry shelf
that size in the livingroom or the dinning room. In fact if it was at the 5
foot or so level and I dovetailed a removeable 2 piece cleat into it I
would be able to pass it off as a plate and teacup display shelf. Just have
to empty it off every now and then to test mirrors. Oooh I sense a new
16" wide shelf to build...   :^)  After all it will
match the segmented cherry tube for her scope.
