He wouldn't imagine it for long. If he didn't drown, he'd be crippled by the
resulting emergency ascent. Your advice is dead on (pardon the pun).
I cannot emphasize my disgust at reading about these sorts of exploits. In
20 years of diving, I've never gone below 135'. I've been acquainted with
plenty of more experienced people than I who feel the same way. I'm not
uncomfortable at depth; I just don't consider the added risk worth the
trouble. My best dives have always been in the 30-60' range.
I don't feel the need to push the envelope.....if somebody else has died from
making excessively deep dives, then that information alone is enough to
convince me that I don't belong there. What does it take to convince people?
If someone tells you that napalm doesn't feel good, must you spread some on
your body and ignite it before you believe it?
If you need some excitement in your life, try putting the moves on your next
door neighbor's wife. It probably has less potential for disaster.
