Hello Tony,

TM> I've now called 3 times and left messages but nobody has yet
TM> returned my calls. I've tried emailing them from their WWW site
TM> but my messages bounce back.

Most if not all the tech support people are/were in sydney for some reason
or another. I am waiting for a reply as well.

TM> Anyway, I'm having trouble receiving faxes on it from certain
TM> newish dedicated fax machine (a Brother plain paper unit for
 TM> one).

I've been through this before. If you want to remain happy with your modem,
leave fax out of the picture. Trust me.
I'd rather not get into how far I've gone to obtain alternate SDLs, or about
the 1.5 hours total talking to tech support, and why I currently have a netcom
14400 faxmodem online and am happy with it.

TM> I'm running the current Austel Approved SDL but am willing to try
TM> the newer "hacked" US code to see if that fixes things.

Tried both, no difference. Well actually, worse. One of my users who used
to get on at 28800, could only manage 14400 (VFC) after fax was enabled, could
not connect at all with the US code.
It was about then when I finally gave up.

TM> If somebody can direct me to where I can grab it from and whether
TM> its possible to save on disk my current SDL version (in case the
TM> US code buggers things up), I would be truly grateful.

You will have to obtain the oz code first, as I don't think you can
"download"
the existing firmware to disk. Dave Hatch has a US hacked version available
for freq SDL1101A.ZIP 244798 bytes, from 3:640/305.
You can get the latest OZ code from the usr oz bbs, 03-9329-7981.
