I believe that M$ also USED to have an arrangement with PKWare to 
have a simple copy of UNZIP for Windows as part of the Windows 
package. 
Something similar to PKWare's PKUNZJR.COM (unzip junior) for DOS.

PKZIP v8 for Windows


I never upgraded from the 2.04g DOS version to the 2.50 DOS version 
because I didn't need the upgrades for Win95+. 

Same with not upgrading from the 2.50 Windows version.
