More than that.

The GDI was not running at ring 0.  Microsoft was more concerned about the
NT's "proper architecture" than it was about performance and
features.  etc. etc.

Now with the XP eye-candy, securiy has been thrown to the wolves of the
like of RIAA.  Mr. Cutler is probably turning over in his [virtual]
grave....
