I've been doing that ever since I first compiled golded. :)
Tried the iconv support once, and it broke more than it fixed, so I went back
to wide ncurses with a native UTF-8 terminal. It works enough to not be annoyed
with it, I suppose.
Golded will most likely never display certain UTF-8 characters properly, but
using nano or vim as an external editor will always come through for you. So
when I see characters messed up in Golded, I'll hit ALT-Q just to see what it
is really supposed to look like. :)
