There's no need to do which? I'm reading that as meaning you think we
should "gate" the echo to a UseNet newsgroup, but that
groups.google.com is not personally needed by you. ( But, I've been wrong
before! :-)

I haven't found one for Linux, either, but then I haven't looked too hard.
Good luck.

There is one that should be a local call for you, which coincidentally has
MooseChat because it is the home swamp of "The Three
Mooseketeers".

Here's the appropriate excerpt from the latest BBS List:

What I like about MaxiMoose is the old WordStar "control key"
sequences that is uses. Takes me back, and also comes
"naturally" to me. I haven't tried them using Linux telnet,
tho. In fact, to comfortable telnet under Linux, I think I would need to
turn off MaxiMoose ANSI display options.

 CM> Say, why not alt.moose.chat?

Mainly because alt.moose is already widely distributed but is not regularly
used by anyone. So, it's basically "there for the taking" with
no newsgroup creation process needed. alt.moose.chat would certainly be
more descriptive, but how hard is it to get sysadmins to hook up new alt
hierarchy newsgroups?
