It might be better to take it to LINUX. I noticed the developer
"William Mcbrine" has just posted a message there and he can probably help
you better than i.

The permission shouldn't matter as it should install in you home
directory and at any rate it is set when you compile and install
it. Even the packets are not fussy.

The end of the year is a long way off. Why not shift the ~/mmail/
to a safe place out of your home directory then save ~/.mmailrc
file and mm executable to ~/mmail/save/. What this will do is preserve
all your packets and any replies. If you move the whole mmail directory
in one hit it will preserver you color file and anything in the save
directory. Then down load V46 and install that. It shouldn't be a
problem if V5 compiled. When you have finished just copy the packets
into the new ~/mmail/down and replies into the ~/mmail/up, copy your colors
over to the new install and if necessary your .mmailrc to your home
directory. It sounds a lot more complicated than it really is. It
usually takes me a matter of minutes. If for some reason the new install
doesn't work you just reverse the whole process. This installation i'm
using now for instance was dumped onto a dos disk while i installed
Mandrake 10. Then all i did was pull everything back to the new Linux
installation and bobs yer uncle. If you decide to answer here then
i will reply in LINUX.
