RS> For the past year, I've had great luck when it came to reconciling my

RS> This latest statement is driving me bonkers.
RS> I select "Reconcile" and the balance that it shows is $25.00 more that

RS> Quicken entered a "Opening Balance Adjustment" in the register.
ESP! That means Error Some Place! I have some
suggestions - can't be specific without your files and
paperwork.
Go back to last month's statement and make sure
you didn't skip a $25 charge somewhere. Then do the
same with this month's. Did you order new checks
and/or deposit slips thru the bank, for which they are
charging you? Did your balance drop below a minimum
balance they allow without a charge? Did a check
written by you or to you bounce? Sometimes the payee
and payer both get charged! Then examine each check
entered in the statement and make sure it matches
what's in Quicken. Don't just look at the checks, look
at the statement. I recently wrote a check for $12.84
and it was entered by the bank as $12.34 - I asked the
bank if it was worth correcting and they said no, it
would cost them more than the $.50!
In other words, examine everything very carefully.
If need be, follow along every Quicken entry and see if
IT dropped something somewhere. It's doubtful, but we
all have heard of bugs. If, after you've put in $50
worth of work and still can't find it, accept the
adjustment and say "*Expletive deleted* it!"
