This should pull default.htm or index.htm in your default directory.

Nope... the above would pull the file defrank.html from your default 
subdirectory. Use www.site.com/defrank/defrank.html to get the file 
defrank.html in the defrank directory off your default directory. 
Oh, I don't run a web server at the moment, played with the early port of 
ncsa a few years ago but nothing serious. Above is just general knowledge of 
how to search for pages when people type the wrong URL ;>
