AT>Atari?
Radio Shack Color Computer. I got my first one in 1982 (with 16k) and
it ran at 0.89mhz.... It was speeded up by Radio Shack to a screaming
1.8mhz in 1986, when they introduced the CoCo 3 with 512k of banked
switch memory.
I remember the days of enormous Winchester hard drives, 3 inch disks
(yes, 3", not 3.5"), I know why 5.25" and 3.5" disks are the size they
are, I remember when 64k bytes of memory dropped below $64, I remember
when Byte magazine was fun to read, I remember how Logo was going to
teach children how to program, I remember how Pilot was going to help
teachers write computer aided testing programs, I remember when the Lisa
was introduced and we all laughed at that stupid thing called a
mouse....
I'm not exactly new to computers.... I guess with 15 years of
programming for/on, owning, and operating numerous computers (ranging in
price from $100 C64's to quarter million dollar VAXes (back when $250K
was a lot of money)), you could call me an "Old Timer" I haven't
been around as long as some people in these echos, but I think its safe
to say I'm in the longest 10%.
