JP> BK> Or W-8 might use a different system entirely. I believe it was JP> BK> supposed to be a major change. JP>.I can see it, Windows Explorer, aka File Explorer, in the left margin, at JP>times. But I still never use it, it is not in my upbringing, I was not traine JP>to use that way of searching in the C:\. I remember where things are and I ca JP>find the path to it. I think that it is leftover from DOS or even before this JP>on the C=64 or even the C=128, before the days of GEOS and of Paul Randall wh JP>gave us Geofax and many more apps for this very nice but small machine. Jean, I was wondering if you switched from the C=128 to a IBM Compatiable using DOS or to one of the Microsoft Windows OS's when you retired your C=128. Which one did You begin with? I went from C=64 to MS-DOS 5.0 on a 486 in early 1994 and then put Windows 3.1 on the box some weeks later so I could try to answer questions a fellow at church was asking me. MS called WE (Windows Explorer in XP) File Manager (FM) in W3.1 , I can't remember if the name was WE in W95 or W98 or WME. I got used to using FM when I was using W3.1 on the 486 box, I used Nortons Change Directory (NCD) when I was using DOS, I Loved using NCD! Early 1984 is when I started using a C=64 PC with the C=1541 FD, I think the GEOS software was developed a few years later. ???? Either the second C=64 I got or the second C=1541 FD came with a GEOS Disk, I can't remember which one it was included with. I wanted to use the GEOS disk but I found out that GEOS wouldn't let me use it with a Write Protect label on THEIR floppy disk, so I didn't try it out for a very long time because I didn't want the floppy drive writing something to it and changing it where it was unuseable to me anymore. A replacement disk for GEOS could be purchased but I didn't want to spend money for one when the disk I had came in the box with the Commodore gear I bought. I always preferred to copy a disk and use the copy instead of the Original Disk but GEOS didn't like to do things that way. I couldn't figure out why Commodore did that, the floppy disk that came with my first 1541 Drive could be copied and then I could use the copy, but GEOS said NO GO! I'm glad that You enjoyed using GEOS, did you have any problems while using it? And was there a FM/WE/FE type program to use in GEOS to find Files and Applications (such as Paint or Write) for GEOS instead of using the Load Quote Dollar Sign Quote Comma Eight used on the C=64 & C=128?
