I had a C compiler on there which I was starting to warm up to given that Solaris on the Sparc's, which is what I wanted to communicate with via a 2400 baud modem, and C got along pretty good. Also some of the early math scriptors for DOS were C syntax so it made more sense to me to go with that at the time. As it turns out that was a really good idea.
